Our Why

Over 2 million children in America are diagnosed with Autism and other developmental disabilities, with less than 40% having insurance coverage. Maryland has the second-highest national rates of Autistic Children (1 in 52 children under 8 years, 1 in 33 boys, and 1 in 128 girls). Baltimore has the highest number of children (56%) who have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) which are major causes of poor mental health across Maryland.

Although 1 in 25 Americans live with a serious mental illness, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or major depression, with about 48% receiving professional help, children living with a disability are 4 times more likely to have 3 or more adverse childhood experiences and poorer mental health. They are also less likely to have access to professional help, as the pool of certified professionals is slim compared to those in need.

According to the United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Mental health encompasses how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices, depicting that good mental health is integral to fostering a purposeful and prosperous community.

Leveraging on years of experience applying Applied Behavioral Analysis therapy to help clients with developmental disabilities develop meaningful skills including self-regulation and functional communication, we are looking to address the imploding mental health challenge and lack of access to professionals in Baltimore by offering tailored, individualized, and culturally relevant ABA therapy and mental health counseling services on and offline. Our solution targets early intervention, treatment, and support for the most excluded and vulnerable people in our community.

Although we accept various insurance companies, we strategically work with Medicaid recipients to provide quality services to our target/beneficiary audience who are typically excluded.
